The Virtuous Wife

The Virtuous Wife

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands. She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar. She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants. She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms. She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night. She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle. She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet. She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.” Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.

"Trouble In The Amen Corner"

It was a stylish congregation
you could see they'd been around
And they had the biggest pipe organ
of any church in town

But over in the Amen Corner of that church
sat Brother Ayer
And he insisted every Sunday
on singing in the choir.

His voice was cracked and broken
age had touched his vocal chords
And nearly every Sunday
he'd get behind and miss the words

Well, the choir got so flustered
the church was told in fine
That Brother Ayer must stop his singing
or the choir was going to resign.

So the pastor appointed a committee.
I think it was three or four
And they got in their big fine cars
and drove up to Ayer's door

They find the choir's great trouble
sittin' there in an old arm chair
And the summer's golden sunbeams
lay upon his snow white hair.

Said York we're here dear Brother
with the vestries approbation
To discuss a little matter
that affects the congregation

Now it seems that your voice
has interfered with the choir
So if you'll just lay out, or ....
are you listening Brother Ayer.

The old man raised his head
a sign that he did hear
And on his cheek the three men
caught the glitter of a tear

His feeble hands pushed back
the locks as white as silky snow
And he answered the committee
in a voice both soft and low.

I wonder if beyond the tide
that's breaking at my feet
In that far off heavenly temple
where my Master and I shall meet

Yes, I wonder if when I try to sing
the song of God up higher
I wonder if they'll kick me out of there
for singing in heaven's choir.

A silence filled the little room
and the old man bowed his head
The committee went on back to town
but Brother Ayer was dead

The choir missed him for awhile
but he was soon forgotten
A few church goers watched the door
but the old man entered not.

Far away his voice is sweet
and he sings his heart desire
Where are there no church committees
and no fashionable choirs.

Let me hide myself in Thee ...

Dear Lord

There are no words to describe
How deep my pain does flow
What words can be used
This I will never know
How I sometimes dream
That I was a stuffed bear
My wounds are deep and bleeding
How much more must I bear
Why must I suffer so
I cannot help but wonder
I feel so lost and alone
Aimlessly I seem to wander
You feel so distant Lord
I need your touch
Without you in my life
Living isn't worth much
Take my pain
Heal my wounds
Give me your Holy Spirit
In your love I want to bloom
Cleanse me and make me whole
Sanctify me in your Son
For he paid the price
When He said, "It is done".

God is great!
In 2010 I surrendered my life to God. Since that time He has been changing my life. I'm on fire with desire to share God with others. However, I sometimes get discouraged that people I care about couldn't care at all about spiritual things. They are so content in the path they have chosen to walk. This frustrates me because I can see where they are traveling. Please pray for these friends of mine that they will give their lives to God and see what He can do
