The Virtuous Wife

The Virtuous Wife

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands. She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar. She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants. She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms. She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night. She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle. She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet. She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.” Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.

The God of reconciliation and answered prayers

Father

Father, this weekend we have much planned. We are going to the place where your blessing and answer to our prayers is. My husband and I both want to thank you for so speedily answering our prayers for reconciliation. Be with us and fill us with your Holy Spirit and let nothing but your words and actions come from us. We want to thank you for all the blessings you give us. Thank you for our families. Even when we don’t always see eye to eye … we all wish nothing more than to serve you with all our hearts. Be with us and help us to not be too proud to humble ourselves when we wrong others … including family.
Lord often I put my big feet into my big mouth and out of pride will say things that I know will hurt others. I often will retaliate when I have perceived that I have been wronged. Sometimes I have been … sometimes I haven’t been wronged. But this doesn't seem to matter, I just can’t let things go at that and leave it to you. I feel the need to always stand up for myself even when nothing bad was meant towards me. My feelings often are wrong but I am far too proud to admit when I am wrong and ask for forgiveness. Please, Lord, change my heart of this sinful action. Lord, whenever I find a plaque, certificate or bookmark, etc. that has my name on it … after it gives the meaning of my name it always gives me the same Bible verse. The verse is in Psalm 19:14, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, o Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” I realize that you are trying to tell me something but often I stop up my ears to what you want to tell me. Please help me to stop doing that and to give ear to your word and let it penetrate deep into my heart and let it bear much fruit.
Lord I thank you that you have begun a good work within my heart. I realize because I am sometimes so stubborn that you have your work cut out for you but I know that you enjoy seeing the changes that are very slowly happening in my heart. I also know that one of these days, or maybe years from now lol, you will have accomplished what you have set out to do. Help me not to fight you but to work with you. I want to be transformed to be more like you. I want to be a true sunshine for you to others that they will feel not just I, but you too, have entered a room when I enter it. You are my Rock and my Salvation, there is nothing else that I need. Yet you often bless me with far more than I deserve. Thank you for this Lord. Amen.
