The Virtuous Wife

The Virtuous Wife

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands. She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar. She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants. She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms. She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night. She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle. She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet. She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.” Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Trust in the Salvation of the Lord

Father

I want to trust you my Lord. But sometimes when pain and difficulties come that strip us of everything … including our dreams … help me to know that you are still in control and watching out for me and my family. Help me know with all my heart that you have not and will not ever abandon us, that you are not capable of abandoning those that you love and that love you in return. Even though right now I feel so alone and forgotten, my heart knows that you have not walked away. Thank you for not forgetting me even though at times like these it feels like you have walked away. Help me to always trust in your salvation. Help me to trust in you and your word. And remind me when I feel like this that you cannot lie, that when you have spoken that your word is true and will stand for all eternity. Please help me know that you don’t hide your face from me. Remove the sorrow that is in my heart and mind. Help me to meditate on your goodness and not what is happening around me. For if I concentrate on the sorrow in my heart then I will be overcome by it.
Please consider and hear me, O Lord my God; Enlighten the eyes of my heart. Please don’t let the evil one prevail against me. Help me to trust in your mercies and goodness. Help my heart to sing once again before you in joy instead of weeping. Please deal bountifully with me in your grace and love.
Give me the desires of my heart. My desire is it to be the Proverbs 31 woman for you and for my husband. Which includes to have a place we can call our own while we live here on this earth onto which you have placed us. I ask that you put a hedge of protection around us so that the evil one cannot harm us.
Thank you so much for the wonderful and godly husband you have given me who has once again been such an encouragement to me in this difficult and painful time. You, Lord, have made a covenant with us that you will love us and save us. Thank you for that. Sometimes when we don’t feel it, it is at those times that we need a godly friend, like my husband, to tell us and remind us of your covenant of unfailing love. I want to thank you with all my heart. As I am praying I feel that you are giving me that reassurance and peace that you will work everything out. I also know that as the days go by that the devil will try and put blinders onto me. It is at those times I ask that you will remind me of your love and reassure me that I can trust you in all things. Thank you for a husband who allows you to use him to do just that.
Be with me through the rest of today and help me just make it through one day at a time. I put myself into your hands and rest in your love. Amen.
