The Virtuous Wife

The Virtuous Wife

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands. She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar. She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants. She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms. She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night. She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle. She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet. She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.” Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.

A Romans Prayer

Father

Thank you for the good nights rest I had last night. Thank you for your word and how it speaks to me. Never stop speaking to me Lord. I need to hear your voice. Let your love have dominion over me for all eternity. Thank you that you have bound me in the Holy bonds of marriage to a man who loves you so much. Thank you for the encouragement he is to follow you. Please never release me from my husband until you call me home. I love him so much and I don’t know how I could go on without him. I know with you I would be able to do anything but I would rather have him than not have him. In all things let it be your will that be done not mine.
Help me be dead to the law but not dead to your word Lord. Make it more and more alive within me. Let it consume me more and more everyday! Let your spirit reign in me and be a light to my paths. Let my sinful passions conquer over me. I beg you to set me free of them. Don’t let my sinful nature bear fruit. Let my life bear Godly fruit for you and through them bless others around me. Let me bear fruit unto life not death. Let me die to my sinful nature more everyday. Thank you that you are still in the business of saving souls. Thank you for saving me and delivering me from the law and placing me under your grace. Thank you for setting me free of the sins that have held me in its grip for my whole life. I beg you to keep setting me free even more. Renew your spirit within me everyday. Thank you that you have given us your law so that we can know what sin is. Without it we would be lost because we would never know what sin is nor how to avoid it and stay clear of it. Set me free of the evil desires that creep into my heart and don’t let them have dominion over me. I know that in sin we are all dead and that you alone, oh Lord, can make us alive. Make me more and more alive everyday.
We all are deceived by sin and sin has the power to kill us but in your love and grace and mercy you set us free of it. Therefore I know that your law is Holy, and your commandment are Holy and just and good. Your law is not a bad thing but rather a good thing. Your law was not meant to have become death to us but sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. For I know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. For what I am doing, I do not always understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice, even though I really want to; but what I hate, that I do. If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. This Lord is very frustrating but I know that only you can give me the strength that I need to do your will. I try too hard to do things in my own strength. Now I can know, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not always know nor understand. Give me your understanding Lord. Help me to walk in your ways. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Help me and give me the strength an willpower to do the good you want me to do. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. Please continue to sanctify me and set me free of the bondage of sin. I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. I will to do good but do not have the ability within myself to do it. You must be the one to do it though me Lord. I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my whole body and soul, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my being. O wretched woman that I am! Only you Lord will and can deliver me from this body of death! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. But one day I will be made perfect in you oh Lord. Oh how I look forward to that day! I thank God, through Jesus Christ my Lord! Amen.
